Shipper.com Lets Internet Retailers Offer Same Day Delivery

In the game of e-commerce one-ups-manship, overnight is no longer good enough. Capitalizing on consumer’s demands to have the product as soon as possible, Shipper.com now offers same- day delivery for some goods purchased online.

The company stores its retail partner’s hottest products in warehouses near major metropolitan areas. Vans are then used to deliver the goods by surface rather than by air, cutting down the delivery time.

Retailers stock the most popular items in Shipper.com’s regional warehouses based on what will sell at the different locations -- such as sweaters in the Northeast or suntan lotion in California.

"We believe that e-commerce needs to work at the speed of the Net," Shipper.com CEO Alex Nesbitt said. "Three- to seven-day delivery retards the growth of commerce on the Internet."

A delivery order placed by 2 p.m. in a major city will arrive by 8 p.m. Delivery on weekends and holidays is also offered, depending on the retailer.

In addition, the cost of the same-day service ranges from $10-$15, less than the price of next-day air. The item can also be gift-wrapped and if no one is going to be home, it can be left at the door or delivered to the office.
