How Businesses Use Personalized E-Mail

E-mail management software is becoming as sophisticated as the tools we use to manage mail and customer databases. Recently MWT purchased a copy of NetMailer by downloading it from the Web (http://www.buydirect.com). The software includes a contact management database that allows us to send personalized messages to various lists based on our selection criteria. Frankly, just like anything else new, it’s takes time to master this program.

On Alpha Software’s web site the developer listed the ways some businesses make use of the software:
bulletA doctor informs patients of new medical developments. For example, the doctor can send a message to all of his patients who suffer from migraine headaches about a prescription drug which is now available over the counter.
bulletAn insurance agent sends messages to his clients in a particular geographic location informing them of their status in cases of natural disaster, such as floods or earthquakes.
bulletA real estate agent informs clients of new offerings and open houses, based on the criteria and price range of each customer.
bulletThe publisher of a newsletter informs customers when subscriptions are up for renewal. Each month a different group of subscribers receives the notices.
bulletA local copy shop informs customers when new equipment is added, expanding the range of services available. Messages to preferred customers include special discount offers.
bulletA software developer sends out advance upgrade notices to customers. Each message includes the cost to upgrade based upon the customer’s current version and number of registered copies.
bulletA software quality assurance manager sends out updates to beta users. Users receive special installation instructions based upon their hardware.
