Online Entrepreneurs Say Web Sites Exceeding Expectations
A majority of World Wide Web entrepreneurs feel that their Web site is meeting or
exceeding their expectations, according to a recent survey conducted by the Internet-Sales
Discussion List (I-Sales).
The December survey, which included over 5,000 subscribers to I-Sales from more than 65
countries, found that 62 percent of Web entrepreneurs who took part said their Web site
results meet or exceed their expectations.
In the total survey, some 27 percent said their Web site exceeds expectations, 35
percent say it meets expectations, and 38 percent say it fails to meet their expectations.
According to I-Sales moderator, John Audette, the polling of I-Sales members was
"decidedly unscientific." It does, however, give a broad indication of most
entrepreneurs perceptions of the Web as a marketing and sales tool, he said.
"The results are undoubtedly skewed, as these are folks who have the initiative to
subscribe, and maybe read, the Internet-Sales Digest on a daily basis, so theyre
diligent to begin with," said Audette, who also is president of Portland,
Oregon-based Multimedia Marketing Group. "But theyre also only modestly
capitalized and probably had high expectations," he added.
Audette also acts as moderator and editor of the newly launched Internet LinkExchange
Discussion List. According to Audette, the Discussion List, launched in March, 1996,
currently has over 70,000 members and delivers over 2,000,000 banner impressions daily.
