Get Paid To Surf The Web
Concept Test, Inc., an Internet marketing start-up, has just launched its World Wide
Web site, TestNow, that pays online users to review new Web site concepts. All the company
asks is that a tester answer ten questions and the company will pay $1.
Concept Test was created by Maurice Martin and David Shackleton with a simple idea:
Create a Web site that will allow developers to test Web sites inexpensively before
launch. At the TestNow site, a sample of the tested Web site or concept is displayed and
paid participants will answer a set of questions on the effectiveness of the concept.
For $199 Concept Test will test a Web page with a set of ten standard questions. Seven
of the questions are multiple choice, covering such topics as ease of navigation,
professional quality, and speed. Three of the questions are open-ended requiring an actual
response from the tester. Clients may enter their own set of ten questions for $499. In
each case the test is limited to 100 responses.
David Shackleton, co-founder of Concept Test, told MWT, "Many people who surf the
Web are already interested in finding new sites. What we provide is an easy way for Web
surfers to get paid for simply giving feedback. Testers are paid for each qualified
questionnaire they complete, and they are paid in cash. For now we limit the amount paid
out each week to $100, and as of today we have openings for new testers."
To participate in the program, potential testers can sign-up online and start testing
immediately. Each tester is given a personal account page that shows a list of the
currently available tests. The tester selects a Web site from the list, explores the site,
returns to TestNow, fills out the online survey, and is credited for the test.
Although Concept Test is targeted specifically to new Web sites, the company plans to
offer additional services developed for a variety of testing subjects in the future.
"The Internet is a unique environment for bringing companies and the members of a
potential target market together in one place," said Shackleton. "Our goal is to
provide high quality concept-testing services that allow these companies to get feedback
from their targeted users as early as possible in the development process."
